Sector Council Engagement Overview

The Greater Memphis Alliance for a Competitive Workforce (GMACW) operates under the vision that employers should have the talent they need to compete, and people have the skills they need to get good jobs. GMACW will support this vision and help resolve the Greater Memphis skills gap by. 1. Aligning training and education programs with employers' skill requirements, and with each other; 2. Connecting employers to cost effective training and hiring support. 3. Driving coordination and improved outcomes among providers that serve job candidates. In support of this mission GMACW has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Greater Memphis Chamber (see attached) to effectively engage employers through employer sector councils and their workforce development committees to develop career maps that include specific skills for each component of the career map. These career maps will then be utilized to align training and education programs with employer skill requirements and jobs.
