Mid-South Community College (MSCC), with the support of the Manufacturing Institute (MI), will create a wide-ranging transformative model of its manufacturing programs by aligning programs with industry-endorsed credentials that meet increasing advanced manufacturing skill needs. Funding level $2,500,000, period of performance 10/01/12 to 09/30/16. MSCC will implement the Right Skills Now: Bridge to Employment initiative to develop articulated education pathways, delivering competency-based, stacked and latticed credentials Production (Manufacturing Skills Standards Council [MSSC]), Welding (American Welding Society [AWS] and the National Center for Construction Education and Research [NCCER]), Machining and Metalworking (National Institute of Metalworking Skills [NIMS]); and Mechatronics (MSSC). MSCC expects to serve 471 TAA-eligible workers, other adult workers/ students, and unemployed individuals, who will earn industry-recognized credentials that prepare them to enter the manufacturing workforce or continue on an education pathway toward increased skill levels.
