Agricultural Watershed Management
An introductory course on the 21st Century of ‘ever-changing landscape’ of Agricultural Nutrient & Sediment Rules, Regulations & Guidelines, and Best Management Practices (BMPs) is the focus of this course. Often a myriad of agencies, their legal authority, roles and regulations, and often-overlapping jurisdiction, the student focusses on how to practice good soil stewardship through Best Management Practices pertaining to nutrient loss reductions and sediment retention within a given agricultural boundary. Content providers came from within, and outside of, this initial group. Lincoln Land Community College/Illinois Community College Board processes for new programs and curricula insured the highest development standards for this initiative. The Higher Learning Commission approval was also received - thus enabling federal and state student financial aid.
