Building Illinois' Bioeconomy

The Building Illinois' Bio-economy (BIB) consortium is comprised of five higher education institutions within the state of Illinois. The partners merged to establish a transformative series of career pathways with obtainable certificates in a two year program. The BIB outlines a comprehensive plant to connect veterans, TAA eligible workers, unemployed persons, underserved minorities, and rural workers with in-demand careers that directly contribute to economic and environmental sustainability. By September 30, 2018, the BIB plans to certify 618 workers with TAA certifications in targeted industries such as bioprocessing, process maintenance and water management. The completion of these certificates will facilitate and strengthen the employability of TAA-eligible workers, and others through career pathways.
