RTE 262 MRI Procedures

In this course, students will be introduced to the procedures for imaging various anatomical structures utilizing MRI. Emphasis will be placed on the cranium and facial nerves, brain, spine, abdomen, pelvis, upper and lower extremity imaging protocol. The most common pathologies to be found during MRI scanning will also be presented. The normal anatomy will be compared to the abnormal findings. Special imaging techniques will be discussed to demonstrate the pathology. The objectives of this course are to 1. Identify and locate topographic anatomic structures and landmarks of the head, neck, spine, musculoskeletal, abdomen and pelvis. 2. List and describe the standard imaging planes and supplemental procedures, anatomy, and pathological conditions encountered in MRI of the head, neck, spine, musculoskeletal, abdomen and pelvis. 3. Perform procedures in from the Procedure and Competency Manual as assigned by the instructor and evaluate the quality of the images, and determine if any modifications in technical factors or positioning are necessary and to effect those modifications. 4. Identify anatomical features and gross pathology on selected MRI studies. The following lessons are included in this course: MRI Case Studies, MRI Upper and Lower Extremities, MRI Trade Off, MRI Safety for Technician and Patient, MRI Centering the Coils, MRI Patient Questions, MRI Tuning, Slicing and Saturating, MRI Circle of Willis, MRI Coils, MRI Localizer Images, MRI Process, MRI Case Study Foot, MRI Case Study Brain, MRI Case Study Soft Tissue, MRI Decision Tree Abdomen, MRI Decision Tree MSK, MRI Decision Tree Head, Case Study Elbow, Head and Neck, Heart and Thorax. These files are SCORM packages and can be easily uploaded to your Learning Management System (LMS), such as Blackboard or Desire2Learn. If you want to view or use the files without an LMS, download the files to your computer, extract (unzip) the file, open the extracted folder, and click to open the story.html file. The lesson will open in your browser window. If used on your LMS, the user will be given a score of complete or incomplete. This completion data is only available if used on an LMS. The SCORM packages are complete and not available for editing. If you would like to include additional information, consider adding the content before or after the booster on your LMS.
