PN105 Syllabus

Several different topics are covered. One topic is the history of nursing. An introduction to improving health and preventing illness in the community by studying available resources, social problems, and the health care delivery system. A study of nutrients, choose my plate, water electrolytes, and pH, with emphasis on how good nutrition is essential in promoting physical and mental health. An understanding of mental health and illness including causes and rehabilitation attitudes showing the relationship between mental and physical health. An introduction to the normal process of aging, chronic conditions of aging and care environments including the nurse’s role in prevention of problems and meeting the basic need of this age group.
