Health Information Technology (HIT) Student Connections

The Arapahoe Community College HIT Student Connections project will facilitate education towards employment for 268 participants. The impetus for this expanded and enhanced HIT education is the persistent shortages in the HIT workforce primarily due to the ongoing changes in the knowledge, skills, and abilities these workers must possess, as well as the requirements to adopt an updated electronic coding system. ACC will enhance HIT student connections to the industry, professional organizations, virtual environments, and employers, as well as academic and career success strategies. HIT Student Connections will infuse IT competencies as directed by the Commission for Accreditation of Health Infomatics and Information Management Education into existing curriculum and develop an employer- driven stackable certificate based on regulated electronic health record implementation.
