Sustainability and the Built Environment
This is the course outline for Capital Community College’s Sustainability and the Built Environment. This course introduces the history, science and standards related to the application of sustainable practices in commercial building design, construction and operation. It will cover emerging standards for site selection and preparation, integrating concepts of energy efficiency, water conservation, and material management. It also examines the impact of these concepts on the productivity, health and well being of construction workers and building occupants as well as the economic and environmental benefits. Students will be introduced to sustainability credential related to the Green building industry and prepare them to take the Green Building Professional (GPRO Fundamentals), as well as an overview of LEED Green Professional.
