This course contains <<# of modules>> modules. The contents and grading for each module are listed below. The grades for each module will be averaged based on grade received and the credit hour to determine the final score.
<<Wording included with the sub-headings below is a sample. Developer should modify to specifically align with course. Credit for Prior Knowledge wording should NOT be changed>>
<<Sample wording below. Modify to fit course requirements.>>
This course will be evaluated on the homework assignments, chapter exams and the final post-assessment exam. You will take a pre-test to evaluate your knowledge of the course materials. Homework assignments will make up 20% of the grade, chapter exams 20%, and the final post-assessment exam 60%.
<<Sample wording below. Modify to fit course requirements.>>
Each module requires the completion of a Module Pre-Assessment. This will allow you to see what areas you are strong in and what areas need additional work. Additionally, in each module you will have the opportunity to demonstrate Credit for Prior Knowledge through the module Pre-Assessment.
If you complete the Module Pre-Assessment with the determined Credit for Prior Knowledge score, you will have the option of proceeding to the Post-Assessment for the module. In order to achieve Credit for Prior Knowledge you must score a <<insert score>> on both the module Pre and Post-Assessments. If you do not achieve the required score, you will be directed to the first learning activity and begin working through the module content.
Please note that Credit for Prior Knowledge requirements vary from course to course. Some courses have components that must be completed in addition to the module Post-Assessment. See bullet two below under the Credit for Prior Knowledge heading.
All Pre-Assessments ARE NOT calculated in the overall grade for each module or for the overall grade of the course.
KCTCS Online open-entry course modules are based on the goal that students will demonstrate mastery of content. Through KCTCS Online, students have the opportunity to receive credit for prior learning. To receive this credit, students must demonstrate mastery of the course module competencies through the following steps:
<<Sample wording below. Modify to fit course requirements.>>
Learners are required to score 80% or higher of the total points. If learners score below 80% of the total points on the Module Post-Assessment, they will be directed to areas of weakness for restudy in order to master subject topics, prior to reattempting post-assessment exam. Learners will have three tries to successfully pass the Module Post-Assessment; however, the last score will be used. The Final Post-Assessment of each module is worth 60% of your overall grade for the module. Learners will be given opportunity to take a practice exams as well as any unit exams before attempting the Module Post-Assessment. In order to achieve credit for prior knowledge, learners must score a 90% on both the Pre- and Post-Assessments.

All assignments, projects, and assessments will be graded within 24-48 hours of submission. See Final Grading Calculation for how the score received for this module will calculate into the final grade for the full course.
<<If GRADING CRITERIA is different for each module, each module grading criteria will be listed on a separate page.>>
<<Sample wording and calculations below.>>
This course is presented as a full (or parent) course with chunks of content called modules (since these modules can be taken separately). You will receive a score for each module. This score based on the credit hour (or weight) of each module will determine your final grade for the full (or parent) course.
The percentage score received for each module will be multiplied by the credit hours of the module to give a total module percentage. Each of the total module percent scores will be added together then divided by the total credit hour of the full (or parent) course to obtain a final percentage score for the course. Based on where the final percentage score falls on the grade scale will determine the final letter grade to be posted for the student.
