CPS261 Syllabus

Requirements for the course:
Credits: 4 hours
Prerequisites: cps161 or equivalent knowledge
REQUIRED TEXT
We will be using the textbook: Absolute Java by Savitch
any edition will do: common editions currently used are 3,4,5 - buying the older versions should be cheaper (check out amazon.com).
CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the Java programming
language. The focus will be on problem solving strategies, algorithm development
and verification with test data, programming style, and documentation techniques
in simple programming examples. The content of this course includes: object
oriented concepts, string manipulation, I/O (input/output), GUI(graphical user
interface) concepts, and event handling.
CPS261 Course Content
This course is designed to provide advanced concepts in Java programming language.

material will be covered in the course.
- Exception handling.
- I/O Processing.
- Graphical User Interfaces
- Multi-Tasking.
- Networking operations.
- MVC(Model, View, Controller Programming Pattern) - Networked Games .... JH7
