Fire Prevention
Enforce no-smoking signs around flammable materials.
Have fire watches on workplaces involving torch-applied materials for a minimum of two hours after the last torch is turned off.
An alarm system must be established by an employer to alert workers and local fire departments of fire emergencies.
Use only approved containers and cabinets to store flammable or combustible materials.
Conduct drills training employees to attempt to extinguish fires or to evacuate the area, and educate them about procedures to be followed.
Store and handle flammable and combustible liquids properly using safety cans or explosion-proof cabinets.
Buildings or structures containing flammable liquids or gases must be constructed of fire-resistant material.

Fire Extinguishers
Water
You can use this on Class A (wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and certain plastics) fires only.
Do not use on flammable liquids and active electrical equipment.
Foam
You can use this on Class A (wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and certain plastics) and B (flammable or combustible liquids) fires.
Do not use it on active electrical fires or outside specified temperature range.
Powder
You can use this on Class A (wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and certain plastics), B (flammable or combustible liquids), C (gaseous fires), and electrical fires.
Do not use on metal fires.

Maintenance System
In buildings, all fire extinguishers must be wall-mounted and properly labeled.
Service or fueling areas at job sites must have a 20 BC-rated fire extinguisher within 75 feet of each pump.
Fire extinguisher rated not less than 10B, will be provided within 50 feet of the location where more than 5 gallons of combustible or flammable liquid or 5 pounds of flammable gas is used.
No fire extinguisher should be concealed, and all must be clearly visible without any obstruction.
Inspections must be conducted to ensure the location is not tampered or altered at regular intervals.
