COURSE INFORMATION
Learner Competencies and Outcomes
- Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply capitalization, number expression, and punctuation rules as related to medical transcription.
- Use correct spelling.
- Identify systems of input other than keying transcripts.
- Transcribe numbers, symbols and abbreviations.
- Use medical reference books and online resources.
- Apply correct word endings, especially for foreign plurals and adjectives.
- Edit documents.
- Transcribe medical chart notes and Histories and Physicals including those from physicians with international accents.
- Transcribe the following reports: operative, radiology, pathology, discharge summary, autopsy, and consultation.
- Apply correct English usage, applying the rules of proper grammar, punctuation, and style; and using correct spelling, logical sentence structure, and various reference styles and resources.
