About the KCTCS Online, modular learning approach

Modularized, competency-based courses with a facilitated, flexible learning pace provide the learning environment you need in order to gain specific knowledge and skills necessary for your career or future studies. Modularized learning allows you to complete brief and focused learning activities that help you achieve a mastery understanding of the content. Course modules are designed to give you numerous opportunities to practice and receive feedback; you can repeat online learning activities as often as you need! 

About this course

This course Introduces you to the study of social media.   Covers topics including the uses, basic tools, and impact of social media upon society. Examines the benefits for business to leverage the use of social media as well as employing social media policy.

This course consists of three modules. Each module consists of a series of short units of study and culminate with a section quiz and module test. You will complete lessons in Blackboard. For each unit you will also complete a short diagnostic quiz. After completing the chapter work, quizzes and module test you will then unlock the next module.

Each module has lessons that you will complete in order. Each lesson focuses on direct competencies and learning outcomes; these lessons contain tutorials, videos, website, and supports to help you be successful.

How to get started

Take some time to familiarize yourself with the KCTCS Online Learn On Demand Blackboard learning environment. On the left side you will see a list of menu options. These links will assist you in locating course materials, resources, and required information for success within the course.

To get started with the course, click on the menu link that reads Start Here. This link contains information to assist you in beginning your studies and in gaining a better understanding of expectations and requirements of the course. You will start by taking a pre-assessment which will allow you to see just how much you already know about the subject matter. This will help you determine the topics on which you wish to concentrate in order to master the course competencies. When you have completed the pre-assessment, you are ready to begin working through the course content by clicking the Module 1 link.
