Fork-Lift Essentials (FLE)

VU LTEC had a pre-existing fork-lift program prior to the award of the TAACCCT grant; however, the following are materials that were created/updated during the grant to be utilized within a fork-lift program. There are two types of assessments that were created to both measure a student's fork-lift knowledge, as well as demonstrate it. The first is a written Fork-Lift Pre/Post Assessment and the second is a Fork-Lift Evaluation form that measures a student's practical skills on various forklift equipment. Students must successfully pass both assessments with an 80% to pass the course. A Grade Template form has been provided for tracking this information. Lastly, course outlines have been provided for the one-day (6 hours) and two-day (12 hours) fork-lift courses. A one-day course is for individuals who have prior experience operating a fork-lift and the two-day course is for individuals with no previous experience.

Quality Note:
The SME was selected based on their knowledge and experience teaching supply chain logistics courses. The SME selected was not involved in the development of any of the program materials reviewed to ensure a true third-party review. A standardized rubric was created for the review of program materials. The rubric encompassed four sections that the SME utilized as their guide to review content within a program. The SME was only required to complete the sections of the rubric for which they had materials to review (ex: if there were no "Learning Activities" to review, then they were not required to complete that respective section of the rubric). Final/Additional comments could be inserted at the end of the rubric. Sections of the rubric included: (1) Syllabus/Course Outline: Materials that are given and/or displayed to the student at the beginning of class that provide an overview of the course; (2) Instructional Materials/Design: Materials the instructor uses to teach the course (ex: PowerPoint, informational handouts, videos, etc.); (3) Learning Activities: Activities utilized to engage students to learn a specific concept(s); (4) Assessments/Evaluation: Assessments or evaluation methods utilized to gauge student understanding- can be formal or informal.
Quality of Subject Matter was assured by:

  • SME Quality Report is posted in Skills Commons
