MCCKC MIG/TIG and MIG Welding

In the MIG/TIG program students master the basics of welding, cutting, and light fabrication. They gain experience with Metal Inert Gas and Tungsten Inert Gas welding, layout and fabrication, and print reading. In the MIG program, students are prepared for the AWS Level I modular certification exam in Metal Inert Gas and Flux Core Arc Welding. The MIG curriculum includes training in welding industry fundamentals, print reading, layout, fabrication, and thermal cutting. The Construction Welding curriculum focuses on Shielded Metal Arc Welding, or stick welding. Through the MoMan grant, students were now able to have their tuition partially funded in WELD 110 and WELD 120/121, classes required for all three certificate programs. MoMan also provided tuition assistance for WELD 160/161, a required class for MIG/TIG and Construction Welding. These certificate programs are taught using AWS curriculum under AWS guidelines. The goal of these programs is to produce qualified AWS code welders, who are in demand in industry. These programs require a minimum of 1.5-2 semesters to complete the 22-23 required credit hours (as a full-time student).
