Modularized Developmental Math Curriculum - NECC

The two syllabi and assignment schedules show all modules in the Modularized Developmental Math sequence at Northern Essex Community College. The last page in the syllabus describes the program for the students. The classes meet in a computer classroom utilizing a modularized course delivery approach with interactive software (Pearson's MyMathLab) in a self-directed format. The instructor is assisted by an embedded peer, paraprofessional or professional tutor. The mastery-based approach allows students to advance as they demonstrate competency in each module. Students with a Basic Math or Basic Algebra I placement may complete one or both courses within the same semester without extra fees. They receive credit for the course they enroll in but are exempted from the higher level if they have successfully completed those modules, enabling them to advance to the next level in the math course sequence. Modularized Basic Algebra II sections are offered for students who need to complete the modules in the level.
