Hematology Theory and Lab - MxCC

Syllabus for a combined lecture lab course in Hematology. This course is intended to provide the student with a foundation of the theory and principles of hematology in the clinical laboratory setting. Analysis and interpretation of test results as they correlate to clinical diagnosis will be discussed. Hematology Theory and Lab includes a review of general cell morphology with an emphasis on hematopoiesis and bone marrow evaluation. Hematological disease states such as anemias and leukemias are discussed in detail. Hemostasis, thrombosis and disease of the coagulation system are discussed. The course introduces both manual and automated testing in the hematology laboratory.
