Transferable Skills for Healthcare Project (THSP)

The THSP fast-track program has two entry points: one under a Health Care Assistant (HCA) certification and the other under the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. The HCA program is a 16 week/one semester certificate program that graduates the student with three specializations (1) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), (2) Unit Service Clerk and (3) the Phlebotomy Certificate. The EMT program is also a 16 week/one semester certificate program that graduates the student with the EMT Certificate. Both the HCA and EMT Certificates allow for immediate employment in healthcare systems, fire departments, emergency medical transportation companies, nursing facilities, physician offices and other health related services. THSP's fast-track multi-lattice credentialing program also offers the following certificates: 1) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); 2) Phlebotomist (PHL); 3) Unit Service Clerk (USC); and 4) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Upon graduation with the HCA or EMT certificates graduates earn additional points in the ranking scale as candidates for the one-year Practical Nursing (PN) or the Paramedic programs. Math and reading labs, career support services and other wrap-around services are provided to maintain student attendance and success in the PN or Paramedic programs. Within the two years of beginning the THSP program, students in the PN or Paramedic program who meet eligibility requirements will be eligibility for the Early Entry Transition to RN Option. Students will continue to be supported by the wrap-around services as they complete all general education courses in preparation for the RN Option program.
