Sustaining Health, Strengthening Security in the Aloha State

Our University of Hawaii Community College (UHCC) consortium represents seven independently accredited institutions, serving 32,000 students--part of the larger 10-campus University of Hawaii system of 60,000 students. Four consortium members are located on the island of Oahu: Honolulu (HonCC), Kapiolani (KapCC), Leeward (LeeCC), and Windward (WinCC). The other three are located on “the neighbor islands”: Hawaii (HawCC), Kauai (KauCC), and Maui (UHMC), which also serves the most remote populated islands in the Hawaii archipelago--Lanai and Molokai. All seven campuses have formed a consortium to address two sectors with critical workforce education and training needs: Health, a well-established sector with a significant number of incumbent workers in need of both foundation and advanced training; and Cybersecurity, a relatively new but rapidly developing sector which faces training needs for both existing employees as well as the creation of a new class of specialists.
