MEDA 1101 Administrative Procedures I

This course introduces the student to a wide variety of medical office duties that are commonly performed by the medical assistant. They will understand their role and responsibilities as a member of the healthcare team. This course will provide a foundation of law and ethics. It will cover point of law as well as ethical dilemmas faced in the medical office. Documentation and professionalism will be covered. Students will understand a variety of ways in which patients may communicate in the medical office. Telecommunication, computer skills, use of the internet and use of office equipment will be covered. Documentation, filing, paper medical records and the electronic medical record will be taught.
