UCSC Diversifying Tech Pipelines: Recruiting and Peer Mentoring of Human Rights Digital Investigators

The project trains students to use existing technology for open source investigations into alleged human rights abuses. The program consists of training and conducting of open source investigations of human rights cases, a peer mentorship program, collection of qualitative data on the experiences of program participants (who are predominantly women of color), and establishment of an alumni network.
