GEOU Embedding Ethics for Career Training in the Governance of AI
This project pilots innovative, replicable workshops on AI & Ethics for 3 nationally recognized D.C. fellowship programs that provide training and work placements for government careers in technology policy.
The project was aimed at early-career fellowships that recruit and support technologists
and policy analysts toward careers in government. We invited a cohort of approximately 35
fellows from CSET (~20 fellows/analysts), TechCongress (~8 fellows), and the American
Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) (~10 fellows). After we transitioned to
a fully virtual mode in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we also invited students from
Georgetown Law Center’s new Master of Law & Technology graduate program to
participate. Our project goal was to help participants deepen their awareness of ethical
complexities relating to AI technologies while forming new professional and personal
connections across programs.
