Both the official course outline and course syllabus include relative content related two (2) separate modules that set forth thorough introduction to proper sampling methodology and collection of air, water, and soil sampling including basic operations of sampling equipment and devices, monitoring methodology, proper sample collection and documentation, and review and application of analysis to determine environmental impact or exposure. Module A: Course content included comprehensive review and instruction of established methodology of obtaining, documenting, managing, and interpreting the results of environmental sampling and monitoring efforts. Emphasis on the selection of appropriate equipment and procedures for collecting air, water, groundwater, soil, surface dust, and various waste samples and their use in the execution of sampling/monitoring plans. Module B: Course content includes comprehensive review and instruction of established methodology of obtaining, documenting, managing, and interpreting the results of workplace sampling and monitoring efforts. Emphasis on the selection of appropriate equipment and procedures for collecting samples for potential workplace exposures associated with chemical and health hazards. This course has been designed to incorporate and comply with training requirements as set forth under OSHA 521 industrial hygiene standard as to provide certificate of training to students who completed the course and satisfactorily demonstrate core competencies associated with this standard. This four (4) credit hour course is offered twice a week for 16-week semester. Module A is offered the first 8 week subsequently followed by Module B offered the second 8 weeks. This course is a 3 credit hour course intended to be completed in 8 weeks.
