The basic principles of chemistry, including metric measurement, properties of matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry and solutions, with emphasis on the usefulness of the periodic table in predicting chemical behavior. Designed primarily for students with no previous chemistry courses. The laboratory includes an experimental study of the chemical principles. 4 credits/3 hours lecture/3 hours laboratory. ISLOs: This course supports student development of Written and Oral Communications, Critical Thinking, and Quantitative Literacy.
