Advance Your Career in Healthcare (ADVANCE Southwest)

SWCC will implement an intensive academic and career counseling model to support participants seeking employment in allied health occupations in the greater Memphis area. The program leverages earlier TAACCCT investments in allied health programs at Southwest and the State of Tennessee by focusing investments and program strategies on meeting the greatest challenges facing students at Southwest-completing programs that lead to credentials needed for middle-skill jobs. Because Southwest is designated as a predominately black institution, in addition to targeting TAA-eligible and other dislocated workers, it will focus on non-traditional minority adult students who are either unemployed or working in low wage jobs with an eye toward improving wages in stable environment. Targeted credentials include: nationally registered emergency medical technician and Tennessee Registered Nursing licensure.
