Accelerating Wireless Education For Capitol and Crater Regions (AWE4CCR)

At VSU, we are using the TAACCCT effort to do two things: compress a pre-existing set of coursework in our current bachelor's degree offerings into a certificate program and deliver it in a cohort model, and simultaneously translate delivery of that compressed content into a hybrid competency based educational experience. Along with aligning our certificate programs to industry-identified competencies, we will also overhaul our curricula development and instructional design process to align with competency-based credentialing principles. Drawing from the evidence and Sinclair Community College Consortium's efforts in a prior TAACCCT round, in Fall 2014 we will create a new Educational Advisory Committee to drive this process. The AWE4CCR program team will develop a master course model that establishes learning materials for the online and offline aspects of our certificate programs. Following this model, faculty teams, working together with an instructional designer, will guide faculty through the course development process. Faculty from the course development team will map course content to assessment items to ensure that all competencies are aligned.
