509-130 Medical Office Procedures

Introduces students to medical office receptionist duties, including patient registration, telephone techniques, scheduling appointments, and maintaining the medical records.  Students learn about basic medical office finances, including collecting payments, posting charges and payments, and performing banking duties.  Students apply knowledge learned by utilizing electronic health record software and practice management software to perform receptionist duties.  Infection control principles and federal and state regulations impacting the medical office, including HIPAA and HITECH will be stressed.
